celebrated "KALVI VAZRCCHI NAAL-KAMARAJAR BIRTH
DAY" (Education
development day) on 18 & 19 july 2009 at our village.Carram,Chess,Silambaddam,,Oratorical,Poetry,Dance
competitions conducted.Nearely 380 students from 6th std to 12th std were
participated from many schools in an around our village.We distribute nearly
97 small dictionaries to our village students.All the speacial invitees
delivered their views about the development of education standared our
area.Speacialy SBI Branch manager Mr.S.Isakki muthu MA.M.Com,MBA,CAIIB,
discussed the reality of the students life.

The
Pothunalamantram Trust is doing its level best to make sure that meritorious
students around our village particularly from government schools are not
denied the opportunity of continuing their education due to lack of funds.This
year one student secured 1101 / 1200 marks from our school.
His father is agriculture coolie and his mother is suffering prolonged illness.
He will get into a government engineering college or top ranked private engineering
college.
If he gets into a government engineering college, total annual fees would
be around Rs. 35,000 (Thirty five thousand) including room rent and mess
bill. If he gets into a private engineering college, the annual fees would
be nearly Rs 90,000 per year.
In his case we have planned to apply for Education Loan from a Bank. We have
to pay the Bank loan interest every year.

Trust hasorganized a drawing competition and a Students cycle rally promoting
awareness about Global Warming and Climate change on Republic day( 26-01-2010)
for the students from LKG to the class 12. About 1400 students from 40 schools
in and around Surandai participated.. The event was raised awareness among
the students about the dangers of global warming and highlight the importance
of preserving the environment.
